DescriptionThis piece is inspired by the crosses found throughout Ireland, many on memorials dedicated to St. Kieran (Chiarain, Ciaran). This first-named saint to be born on Irish soil (about 375 A.D.) was ordained by St. Patrick. A famous church named for him is found at his birthplace on Cape Clear Island. There we also find the impressive ruin of the Dun an Oir, the ancient castle and fortress of the O 'Driscolls. Since many wells and fountains in Ireland are thought blessed with St. Kieran's healing powers, the Dun Kieran Cross would be ideal placed beside a pond in your garden or an indoor fountain.
